Sleep deprivation can lead to all kinds of serious issues like weight gain, lower sex drive, depression, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, heart attack and more. Not to mention it can affect your appearance and give you puffy eyes & dull skin. So, let’s get to it. Here’s your must-do list:
1) KICK THE CAFFEINE
If you can’t give up your morning tea or coffee, at least give it up after 12 noon. For Gen X’ers especially, it will help us relax and minimize the hormonal symptoms that keep us from getting quality sleep.
2) IT’S ALL ABOUT KEEPING A ROUTINE
If you go to bed at the same time every night, it’s going to help get your body in the right rhythm for sleep.
3) DON’T GIVE IN TO NAP TIME
Stay awake, it’s worth the good night’s sleep you’re more likely to get if you stay up all day.
4) MEDITATING AND EXERCISE
Meditating and exercise are really great for mood improvement and sleeping more soundly- yoga is perfect as it’s a bit of both.
5) SKIP THOSE HEAVY LATE-NIGHT MEALS
6) GOT MELATONIN?
Pick some up and give it a shot, there are lots of options.
7) NONE OF THE ABOVE WORKING?
Try avoiding spicy foods & alcohol. Yeah, I know…kind of a fun killer but if you’re suffering, it’s well worth it.
8) THE LATEST TREND IN EFFECTIVE SLEEP AIDS – THC GUMMIES
Take them about 45 minutes before bed. They really help you to stay asleep longer and taste good too. If you’re interested, ask your doctor if they are right for you, legal and available where you are.
See your doctor, regardless, if this lack of sleep persists. Your physician may want to do a sleep study. A good night’s rest is serious business and can help you avoid significant health issues. So get busy and get some sleep.
XOXO,
